A new online wine club called Winebuyers has launched listing over 400 English wines.
The club, which is free for consumers to join, boasts nearly 30,000 different wines from 38 countries. Winebuyers acts as a shop front for producers and merchants, who pay a monthly subscription fee.
The English wines are from 14 counties, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Kent, Leicestershire, Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, with one from Wales.
Winebuyers was founded by entrepreneur, Ben Revell, who has a background in selling fine wine, watches and diamonds. Earlier this year the company completed a 40-day fundraising via equity crowdfunding platform CrowdCube, exceeding its target of £525,000 as well as securing further industry funding from private investors, bringing the total investment to over £1,000,000.
Julia Trustram Eve, marketing director, Wines of Great Britain Limited, (WineGB) said: “I'm truly impressed that Winebuyers provide access to purchase so many wines from the UK; They certainly have access to the biggest range of English wines – both direct from vineyards and via the merchants with whom they deal.”
Ben Revell, founder of Winebuyers, said: “We want wine lovers, no matter their budget, to have access to the very best selection of wines for no additional fee – whether that’s something they regularly drink at the weekends or being able to occasionally try more unusual and quirky wines that are now produced.”
