IWC UK Merchant Awards returns

Published:  11 May, 2018

The IWC UK Merchant Awards is back for another year, with limited time remaining to sign up.

Organised by the globally recognised International Wine Challenge, the IWC UK Merchant Awards is once again preparing to celebrate the most UK’s most successful wine retailers and agents.

The awards were established following the founding of the IWC in 1984 to recognise the stellar work of those who deliver outstanding service to the UK supply chain.

This encompasses wine purveyors who work in the multiple sector, with categories to highlight excellence in the supermarkets, convenience and national merchants as well as online.

Regional and specialist merchants meanwhile will be highlighted in their particular fields.

On the supply side, the title agent of the year will go to agencies which are based in the UK and whose main activity is selling wine to the UK trade.

“The International Wine Challenge is more than just a celebration of world-class winemakers,” Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge and also judge for the UK Merchant Awards said.

“We also reward top wine merchants. These are the companies that make the extra effort to sell world-class wines to their customers, and who have demonstrated particular passion and expertise in doing so. They are the top specialists in wines from different wine regions, and the outstanding retailers in every corner of the UK. They have demonstrated their commitment to customers and winemakers alike over the past year, and we are proud to recognise their hard work.”

A new extended deadline for the awards has been set for May 16.
