The trend for flavoured spirits is showing no signs of slowing down with further launches this week from Halewood and Pernod Ricard UK.
Halewood Wines & Spirits has expanded its craft spirits collection JJ Whitley with a nettle-flavoured gin, while Pernod Ricard has added a lime variant to its Absolut vodka portfolio.
Inspired by English country gardens and hedgerows, the new JJ Whitley expression has a heavy herbaceous aroma accompanied with a light but zingy kick, bound together with a gentle sweetness.
It comes with a 38.6% abv, with the small batch available now online on Master of Malt in a 70cl format priced £18.95.
The quality and innovation of the crafted liquid, which marks the fifth tipple under the JJ Whitley umbrella, had been created to celebrate the brand's "rich rural heritage and fondness of seasonal flavours", said a spokesperson.
Launched in spring last year, JJ Whitley includes two gins - London Dry and Elderflower, alongside a vodka duo comprising Potato and Rhubarb variants.
Also available from this week across the on and off-trade, Absolut Lime (rsp: £18.75) is being rolled out nearly 30 years after the introduction of Absolut Citron, with the latest edition developed to provide an additional option to consumers looking for a refreshing tipple during the summer season.
Harpers Wine & Spirit is today mapping out gin's future at the third Think Gin event in London, where it will be looking at the rapidly changing category, which is in flux, with garnishes, brands and craft distillers, styles, flavoured gins, premium tonics, newcomers and established brands aiming to put their stamp on an increasingly saturated marketplace.
