Kingsland, the UK's premier independent supplier of wines and spirits, has launched a new innovation in packaging design to the UK, with its 1.5 litre 'Balance Box'.

Building on the huge success of Balance, one of the fastest growing South African wine brands, this latest launch is designed to offer a more environmentally friendly alternative to bottles. The Balance Box is equivalent to 2 standard bottles of wine, but is packed in a cube shaped box featuring Hank the balancing elephant.

The box is made from 80% recycled material, is one third lighter than the equivalent 2 glass bottles, and uses less energy to produce than glass. The environmental benefits are further enhanced by the fact that the wine is brought in on a wine barge, right to Kingsland where it is packed, producing a far lower carbon footprint.

Not only is the packaging better for the environment but it has many retail benefits too. The boxes stack to make an eye-catching display, they fit neatly in the fridge, and they offer better value than 2 separate bottles of wine, with an RRP of £8.99. They are more convenient and lighter to carry for the consumer, the integrated handle and metallic colour coding is proving particularly popular with women.

Kingsland has appointed Rumpus Communications to develop a press and sampling campaign to ensure that consumers nationwide experience the benefits of the Balance Box.

The Balance Box is available in 4 varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. It has an RRP of £8.99.
