Majestic asks customers to choose new international craft beer

Published:  11 October, 2016

Majestic Wine is opening up its beer offering by asking customers vote for what they like and what they enjoy drinking.

The retailer is aiming to show that its business model isn't just "all about wine" via its annual Beer Festival, when it will be asking customers to choose a new international craft beer to join its range in all 210 stores nationwide.

"Majestic isn't just about wine. We have a better selection of craft, international and local beer than anyone else and the best people to guide customers through the range," John Colley, managing director of Majestic Retail, said.

"We want our customers to tell us what they like, not for us to tell them what they should like. Rather than following trends, we want the British Public to set their own and we're uniquely placed to make this happen."

Majestic offers around 800 wines between its stores, but is also keen to push its large craft beers and spirits portfolio.

The Beer Festival, Majestic's second nationwide beer event, runs in-store over Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October when stores will be offering sample tastings and one-hour masterclasses,

At last year's festival, customers voted for Naked Ladies from Twickenham Fine Ales as the local British craft beer to be added to the Majestic range.

This year, there are two international craft beers in the running: Einstok Toasted Porter from Iceland and Abita Purple Haze from Louisiana.

Both beers will be open to taste and customers will vote for their favourite.

The beer, which wins the vote, will be stocked nationwide from February 2017.
