Finland is the latest country to make its mark in the world of malt whisky with the launch of a 10-year-old by the country's Teerenpeli Distillery.
The whisky is being launched at this weekend's Whisky Show in London and will be sold online by UK retailer The Whisky Exchange.
It is made with Finnish peat, locally-grown barley and water filtered naturally through an esker formed during the last ice age at Lahti in southern Finland.
Teerenpeli was founded in 2002 and is scheduled to reach completion of its distillery next month when annual production will quadruple from its current 40,000 litres.
Group managing director Anssi Pyysing said: "The launch of our 10-year-old whisky is a significant milestone for Teerenpeli.
"As pioneers of Finnish whisky culture, we have devoted many years of determined work to reaching this goal, and we are still aiming high."
Wider export sales are expected to follow the whisky's launch in its domestic market on October 10.
The single malt is bottled at 43% abv and aged in bourbon and sherry casks.
