Maxxium UK's MD announces departure for newly created role at Edrington

Maxxium UK's managing director Huw Pennell announced today he will be leaving his post to join Edrington, one of Maxxium UK's major shareholders, for a newly created role of European regional managing director on April 1, 2015.

Maxxium UK's managing director Huw Pennell announced today he will be leaving his post to join Edrington, one of Maxxium UK's major shareholders, for a newly created role of European regional managing director on April 1, 2015.

Maxxium UK houses a portfolio of great brands and a strong team of talented and experienced people that will continue to deliver exciting plans across the portfolio and ensure the company's continued success," said Pennell.

Edrington and Jim Beam Inc own equal parts of Maxxium UK and Pennell had been managing director for the past decade. He had been with Maxxium UK for the past 16 years of his career.

"This new role will deliver a new level of focus on this large and complex region whilst creating a management structure consistent with the rest of the world. Huw's knowledge, experience and leadership style will be of great benefit to Edrington. We are excited to welcome him to the business and look forward to building on the success of our company." said Edrington's group commercial director, Scott McCroskie.

Edrington owns a few of the more well known iconic Scotch whisky brands in the world including The Macallan, Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark. Last year the company saw a boots in profits including hitting turnover of more than £730 million following the global whisky boom the industry has seen in recent years.

Edrington will close its financial 2015 year at the end of March 2015.

A replacement for Pennel has not yet been appointed.
