Italian aperitif brand Aperol is gaining a strong foothold in the UK market, as sales of the drink shot up 800% at Waitrose in the last year.
The product's signature serve is the Aperol Spritz, a blend of Aperol, Prosecco and soda water, and it has signed a 3.5 year sponsorship deal with Manchester United to boost awareness.

The aperitif was Waitrose's drink of the year, in the supermarket's annual food and drink report, published last week.
Over the summer the brand's Aperol Spritz Social, an outdoor installation incorporating a bar, mezzanine terrace, decking and DJ booth headed to Spinningfields in Manchester.
The booth also made its way onto the summer festival circuit, including to Lovebox festival in London's Victoria Park, at On Blackheath festival with John Lewis and to the Isle of Wight for Bestival in September.
The brand also created the Apreol Spritz Garde at St Andrew Square in Edinburgh, also home to the brand's showcase stage, during Edinburgh's Fringe Festival in July and August.
Aperol, 11% abv, is a Gruppo Campari product and distributed in the UK Catalyst Brands. It was created in 1919 and is a secret blend of herbs and roots.
