Maison Louis Jadot has announced that it has purchased Resonance Vineyard in Oregon's Willamette Valley for an undisclosed fee.
It is the first time that Jadot will produce wine outside of Burgundy, said Jadot's chief executive, Pierre-Henry Gagey. The deal further underlines Oregon's rise to prominence for its Pinot Noir wines.
Resonance is an 8ha vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and was first planted in 1981. Based on a south-facing hillside, it is established as the source of some of Oregon's best Pinot Noirs.
"We were impressed by the quality of the wines we tasted here," said Gagey, who added that former Jadot winemaker Jacques Lardière will be responsible for cultivation, vinification and ageing of the wines from the 2013 harvest.
Resonance Vineyard's owners and managers for the past 24 years, Carla and Kevin Chambers, said they were honoured to hand the reins over to Jadot.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
