Summer Light Miranda is a new low-alcohol wine brand produced by Australian Vintage for the UK and will be available on retail shelves this autumn.

Australian Vintage has invested $1.8m in Spinning Cone Column technology, which it claims is the first in Australia, which by reducing alcohol at 42°C, rather than the 62°C industry standard, means alcohol is thought to be extracted more gently allowing for more character and flavour to come through on the fruit.

Lower-alcohol wines are becoming increasingly popular for the health conscious or those looking to reduce calories and Australian Vintage hopes the new brand will tap in to a category that it estimates to be worth £42.8m category in the UK off-trade.

Summer Light Sauvignon Blanc has only 45 calories in a 125ml glass and the Summer Light Shiraz has 55 calories. Both wines have an abv of 5.5%.

Summer Light Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc will be available at Tesco and Morrisons with an rrp £5.99.
