Cobevco to offer bag-in-box filling service

Published:  23 January, 2013

Cheshire-based specialist bottler Cobevco has announced it is to offer bag in box as part of its beverage-filling capabilities.

The move, which will take place from the end of May, follows a £2-million investment by the contract packer which was launched as the bottling arm part of Quinn Glass last November.

It is the latest development in the company's already-broad range of services, which includes glass bottle filling and packing, on-site bonded storage and consolidated product deliveries.

The installation of a new state-of-the-art Rapak filling machine will allow Cobevco to fill a minimum of 200,000 litres of wine each week in bag-in-box format. The bottler already has several big-name wine producers signed up for the bag-in-box service, and more brands looking to amalgamate their filling requirements at one location are in talks to come on board over the next few weeks.

Adrian Curry, managing director, said: "As consumers continue to demand a wider selection of wine products to fit all budgets, more and more producers are deciding to offer products in bag-in-box format.

"By adding this capability to our services, we can give producers the variety of filling solutions that they need to satisfy retailers and consumers in the UK. It also opens up growth opportunities further afield in markets such as Scandinavia, where bag-in-box is already well established with consumers."

This latest announcement comes just weeks after Cobevco appointed renowned Master of Wine, Justin Knock, as its official winemaking consultant.
