Visitors to next month's Wine Institute of California's annual tasting on February 27 will be able to take part in a Zinfandel masterclass delivered by a panel of expert Californian winemakers.

The session, California's Finest Zinfandels: a Study of Balance and Terroir, will be presented between 11.30am and 12.30pm at London's Queen Elizabeth 11 Conference Centre, Westminster.

The masterclass will include presentations from John Onley, winemaker, Ridge Vineyards, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mike Phillips, owner/director of winemaking, Michael David Winery, Lodi, Kevin Powell, oenologist & cellar master, Robert Biale Vineyards, Sonoma and Richard Flores, ZAP ambassador, who will moderate the panel.

The Zinfandel winemakers will go through 10 Zinfandel wines from seven different California appellations. The wines have been selected to demonstrate the balance, site specificity, age-ability and the distinctive characteristics of California's signature grape variety.
