Scotch hopes India-UK trade deal will be boon for sector

The British and Indian governments have agreed to a trade deal touted to increase bilateral trade between the nations by £25.5bn. The deal saw a softening of Indian tariffs on imports of British gin and whisky which could spark growth for the UK's domestic spirits industry.

It is in fact Officer’s Choice, an Indian whisky unable to be sold as whisky in the UK or EU because it contains molasses spirit. However, India is now producing increasingly sophisticated single malts with brands like Rampur, Indri and Paul John setting their sights on the British market.
