Over 300 fortified wines will be available to taste at next Monday's first Big Fortified Tasting.
The event, to be held at London's Glaziers Hall, London Bridge, is thought to be the first time so many dedicated fortified spirit brands have been available to taste under one roof.
The tasting is being put together by Ben Campbell-Johnston who promises that in the Port, Sherry and Madeira zones visitors will be able to find both new products as well as vintage launches, and some "rare, ancient and remarkable offerings, such as Australia's first Wine Spectator perfect "100" , venerable wines from the nearly extinct DOC of Carcavelos and old Vin Doux Naturel Soleras".
There will also be a specific area for sommeliers, which will offer a private tasting where you can taste by flight.
It has already caught the imagination of many in the trade. Roger Jones of the The Harrow at Little Bedwyn said: "Campbell's, Stanton and Killeen, Buller, Morris - this is not just a Fortified Tasting but a collection of the finest from Australia against the giants of the Old World, bring it on, what a privilege to taste such an audacious array of fortified & sticky wines."
