Greens Restaurant & Bistro in Whitby, Yorkshire was named Best Restaurant of the Year in the Northern Hospitality Awards last night.
The event recognises food and drink expertise across the north of the country.
The full list of winners announced by BBC food and drink broadcaster, Nigel Barden, were:
- Best Restaurant - Greens Restaurant & Bistro, Whitby.
- Best Hotel - Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool.
- Best Bar - Corridor, Manchester.
- Best Pub - The Feathers Inn, Stocksfield, Northumbria.
- Best Newcomer - Van Zeller, Harrogate.
- Best Wine Offering - The Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, North
Yorkshire.
- Best General Manager - Michael Magrane, The Midland Hotel, Manchester.
- Best Chef - James Mackenzie, The Pipe and Glass Inn, Beverley.
- Special Achievement - Peter Papprill, Pendrills & The Cheese Detective.
Emma Green, proprietor of Green's Restaurant & Bistro and winner of the Best Restaurant title, said: "This is a truly amazing achievement and we are

The event was held at the Hilton, Manchester, with a four course dinner from head chef, David Gale.
