Takeover leaves company a stand alone business
Forth Wines will be run as a stand alone business positioned to offer premium fine wines, following its takeover by Matthew Clark. The new board includes: Donald Campbell as sales director; Michael Younger, finance director; wine buying director Arabella Woodrow MW; Matthew Clark's Peter Aikens as chairman with other representatives from the plc. A statement from the company said: "It is intended to provide considerable investment behind Forth Wines to generate growth in sales while further enhancing their reputation as suppliers of high quality wines to the trade." The offices, warehousing, telesales, winebuying and marketing will remain at Milnathort near Edinburgh and customers will continue to be serviced by the existing sales force. Matthew Clark, which is owned by Constellation Brands, formerly Canandaigua, stressed that there are no plans to change existing supplier arrangements.
