London City Bond seals Fells deal

Published:  25 September, 2009

Wine and spirits logistics firm London City Bond has revealed details of a three-year multi-million pound deal to handle the warehousing and distribution of UK fine wine importer Fells.

The deal will see the bonded storage of 100,000 cases of wine at London City Bond's Barking site.

As part of the contract the company will also produce up to 25% of Fells' gift sets which will target supermarkets, department stores, off licences and cash and carries.

Jeff Stanton, non-executive chairman of London City Bond, said: "We are delighted to be providing a total logistics solution for Fells, a leading fine wine brand. In particular, the contract reflects our growing reputation for providing added value logistics services, which is very much part of our business development strategy going forward."

Stanton added that the deal showed London City Bond's capability to offer nationwide distribution services to a wide range of points of sale.

Geoff Rider, Operations Director at Fells, said: "The gift packing area of our business has grown significantly in recent years and now includes a range of food and non-food sets that are sold across the retail sector. As a result, we needed a flexible logistics provider that could offer significant supply chain efficiencies and meet changing customer demand patterns."

A new project manager, Eric Vose, has been appointed to oversee the Fells' gift packing operation and distribution.
