Condé Nast Johansens Champagne Taittinger wine winners unveiled

The Bell at Skenfrith inn in Monmouthshire, Wales, has been named overall winner of the Condé Nast Johansens Champagne Taittinger Wine List Award 2009.

The judges describe its list as "an individual triumph put together with passion" and "very approachable and not at all pretentious".

The Bell also picked up the award for Innovative Wine List and came top in the Small Hotels, Inns and Restaurants category for the UK & Ireland.

Winner in the Hotels & Spas category was the Donnington Valley in Newbury, Berkshire. It was praised for its "manageable list which is user-friendly and value for money".

The winners were announced last night at the 27th annual Johansens Awards for Excellence Dinner at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in London.
