What's in your wine?

So Dispatches on Channel 4 aired a programme last night called 'What's in your wine?' The programme concluded that, when it comes to buying the stuff, we're being conned by wine producers who fill their bottles with bad stuff that's not grapes.

Now call me stupid (and you well might - I'm the first to confess I know a lot less about wine making than I would imagine half the people reading this blog do...) but didn't most people already know that stuff other than grapes goes into wine making? So champagne has sugar in it and some wines have yeast, milk or egg thrown in to enhance the taste. As a consumer, I'm all for whatever makes it taste good.

Wine bottles already have to list sulphites on their labels by law, and that doesn't seem to put anybody off buying it, so I doubt any of the issues raised in this programme will either, personally.
