BERINGER BLASS GEARS UP FOR GROWTH

Published:  23 July, 2008

Beringer Blass Wine Estates (Europe) has formed an in-house sale and marketing team to work directly with key retail chains and with Waverley Vintners, its new on-trade distributor. John Shortt, managing director of Beringer Blass Wine Estates (Northern Europe), said: This team will enable us to build our business at an accelerated pace and deliver greater control and focus for our brands. While it is our intention to continue to develop Wolf Blass as our key focus Australian brand, the diversity of our range will provide leverage for the team across all channels of distribution,' said Shortt. Garreth Anderson, business development manager (UK), heads the sales team, which comprises: Rufus Weston, business manager off-trade (formerly of Ehrmanns); Mike Bentley, business manager off-trade (formerly at Southcorp UK); Mike Millington, business manager convenience and cash and carry (also formerly at Southcorp UK); Steve Atkinson, business manager on-trade (formerly of Seagram UK); Aran Meadows, sales manager (formerly of Matthew Clark/BRL Hardy). A new customer service team will be managed by Lynn Gardner. Chris Thompson has been appointed as marketing manager (Europe). He joins the company from Gallo, where he was responsible for marketing in Western Europe.
