The Seoro de Arnzano wine estate has achieved Pago status - one of only five vineyards in Spain to do so.
Vino de Pago is the most exclusive classification in Spanish wine and the only one over and above Denominacin de Orgen.
In achieving Pago status, the 127.95 hectares of Arnzano vines had to comply with rigorous criteria including assessment of grape varieties, cultivation systems and winemaking procedures.
The estate is located in the northern Spanish region of Navarra.
Fernando Chivite, Arnzano president, said: "We expect to present the first three vintages of this very limited production wine next spring, in a special release.
"In the future we will develop other wines that will complete the Pago de Arnzano wine range with the same level of excellence."
The estate's Pago status was formally recognised by the Orden Foral 400/2007.
