Roy Ackerman CBE as been named as the new president of The Academy of Food and Wine and will take over the role from Lord Thurso who has agred to stay on as patron of the organisation.
It is hoped Ackerman's appointment will help raise the profile of the Academy within the industry.
Ackerman is also chairman of the board of governors of the Academy of Culinary Arts, a past chairman of the Hotel & Catering Training foundation and a past president of the Restaurant Association.
Jeremy Rata, chairman of the AFW, said: "Roy is the ideal candidate to help the Academy Board achieve its aims of creating a higher awareness and profile within the industry. We are also delighted that John Thurso has agreed to continue his long standing support of the Academy in the new role of Patron."
