Robert Boutflower, managing director of Laymont & Shaw, is leaving the Cornwall-based Spanish specialist for Tanners.
Boutflower will join the Shrewsbury-based importer and retailer as private sales and retail director next week, following nine years with Laymont & Shaw.
His departure follows that of the company's founder, Andrew Hawes, who recently left the consultants role he had held since he sold the company to fellow Spanish importer Vinoceros in 2003.
Boutflower commented: 'I'm very sad to be leaving Laymont & Shaw - which I still feel has the best Spanish portfolio in the UK - but I felt that it was an opportunity that was too good for me to miss.'
Boutflower added that he was looking forward to getting back to working with 'wines', rather than managing supermarket accounts.
Laymont & Shaw's current sales manager Philip Harris
will run the company in conjunction with Vinoceros's managing director Nick Richards until a replacement is found.
Richards commented: 'We will be looking to appoint someone, either internally or externally, in due course, although we will probably wait until after we have restructured it and integrated some parts of the business with Vinoceros.'
