FMV expands Italian menu

Published:  09 July, 2018

Fields, Morris & Verdin (FMV), the in-house UK trade arm of Berry Bros & Rudd (BB&R), has expanded its Italian portfolio with the addition of Mastroberardino.

Founded in 1750, Mastroberardino’s focus for the past 10 years has been on sourcing resuscitating native grape varieties such as Aglianico, Fiano, Piedirosso, Greco, Falanghina and Coda di Volpe.

FMV’s sales team would be hand selling the extensive range, which includes eight wines, and would be focussing on the premiumisation of “Campania’s most expressive wines” while offering its customers value at a range of price points, said wine buyer Davy Zyw, who joined the team in October last year.

“Mastroberardino is one of the most historic and influential wine dynasties in Italy and has done so much for the reputation of Italian wine and the guardianship of some of the country’s most loved native varieties,” he said.

The combination of FMV’s reputation for quality producers as well as its focus on family-owned wineries made it a “natural choice” for Mastroberardino, said chairman and CEO Piero Mastroberardino.

“Together we will work on specific activations and communications in order to steadily build the Mastroberardino brand here in the UK,” he added.

The producer joins FMV’s existing line-up of Italian producers, including Giovanni Rosso, Luciano Sandrone, Monte Bernardi and Lis Neris.

Available from FVM now, the Mastroberardino portfolio includes 2017 Mastro Greco, 2017 Mastro Aglianico, 2011 Radici Taurasi, 1998 Radici Taurasi Riserva, 2017 Mastro Rosso, 2017 Morabianca Irpinia Falanghina, 2017 Novaserra Greco di Tufo, 2016 Redimore Irpinia Aglianico and 2017 Mastro Bianco.
