Bibendum has expanded its premium Sherry portfolio with the addition of La Guita.
La Guita, which includes an ‘En Rama’ - meaning unfiltered and unfined, produces a range of Manzanilla sherries from Palomino Fino grapes that create a fresh, delicate flavour - characteristic of the cool temperatures and high humidity of the area.
Bottled on demand five or six times a year, the grapes used in the wines are grown exclusively in Pago de Miraflores district, the ‘grand cru’ for Manzanillas.
La Guita, previously distributed in the UK by Enotria & Coe, was a perfect fit for Bibendum’s expanding premium wine portfolio, said Jamie Avenell, buyer for Spain at Bibendum.
“This is a market-leading Manzanilla, which today is not only the best-selling Manzanilla in Spain, but the best-selling sherry full stop, therefore we’re incredible excited to be adding it,” he said.
Ignacio López de Carrizosa, export director for La Guita, said: “With Bibendum’s knowledge in the market, passion for the brand and professional skills, I can only see a new, extremely positive era for La Guita in the UK market – something we have been keenly looking for over the last few years and that we are going to be able to put into practice with whom we believe is the ideal partner.”
