Cellar Trends continues Rosolio resurrection with new deal

Published:  12 July, 2017

Branded alcohol distributor, Cellar Trends, has taken on the distribution and marketing for Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto with the hopes of launching the Rosolio category into the UK.

Rosolio is an Italian liqueur which is often – although not always – derived from rose petals.

While it is largely unknown in the UK other than within niche bar circles, the apperitivo could be having a comeback in 2017, thanks largely to the success of similar products such as Aperol Spritz, which has transferred from Italy to Britain in a big way in recent years.

Italicus is being positioned at the on-trade in the UK, in the hopes that bartenders will adopt the drink as a cordial to compliment Prosecco.

It is made by infusing Bergamot and Cedro in cold water to release the essential oils, before blending with Italian grain spirit.

The product is the brainchild of Italian drinks expert Giuseppe Gallo and was originally handled by Speciality Drinks.

From mid-July, it will be distributed and driven into the UK on-trade by Cellar Trends.
