Rosemount aims to be perfect match for everyday meals

Published:  12 July, 2016

Treasury Wine Estates has launched a "food-centered" range of wines under its Rosemount brand in an effort to link wine to everyday meal occasions.

Rosemount Meal Matchers is said to have been created to help make the connection between the wine and a recommended food match, using "uniquely designed packaging".

TWE says global insights from Kantar Alcovision "have shown that, while the everyday meal at home is the second biggest wine occasion, it has been under threat from other alcohol categories in recent years".

Caroline Thompson-Hill, head of marketing for the UK and western Europe at TWE, said: "Rosemount Meal Matchers simplifies a category that can be very intimidating for those less involved in wine. The distinctive chalkboard-effect bottle design directly communicates a clear food and wine pairing to inspire shoppers when they are in store."

There are four wines in the Meal Matchers range: a Cabernet/Merlot blend matched with pasta; Shiraz with steak; Sauvignon Blanc with seafood; and Chardonnay with chicken.

Thompson-Hill added: "Our winemakers have carefully developed the wines to complement the flavours of the recommended food match. The overall result is an enhanced everyday meal occasion."

Meal Matchers currently has listings across more than 900 Tesco stores, along with the Bargain Booze and Nisa estates.
