Vinoteca, the award winning London restaurant and wine bar chain, is working with property agents at the new Kings Cross retail development to open a tailor made site in February 2015.

In would not only be the group's fifth site in the capital, but arguably its most high profile as Vinoteca has been specifically selected by Argent, the property developers and restaurant consultant, Nicholas Lander, to become part of the new Kings Cross project.

"It really is brilliant for us," said co-founder Charlie Young, who stressed they were still in the final stages of talks but expected those to be completed by September. ""They have really shown a lot of faith in us as we would not have been able to compete if they had gone through a bidding process. We are also very grateful to Nicholas who has always been a great supporter for us and we know how hard he has worked for us to be there."

At 3,200 square feet the 80 cover restaurant will be by far Vinoteca's biggest outlet to date, and much larger than the current 2,600 sq ft  sites in Soho and Marylebone. The property will be housed on the ground floor of the new development, facing St Pancras International train station, and will have an outside terrace area for up to 50 people.

Young said we can expect the same kind of offer as it has at its other four London sites, but there will be room for a more dedicated wine shop and this will be a full day operation offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. "But overall we will be offering good value, constantly changing seasonal food with quality wine to match," he explained.

He said he was particularly impressed by the plans that Argent has for the development which will see the likes of Google opening up head offices there in the next couple of years.

Young said it would be looking to hire key people in the coming months, but would also open up opportunities at the Kings Cross restaurant for existing staff.

Vinoteca's current restaurant are in Marylebone, Soho,  Chiswick and its original site in Farringdon.

Vinoteca was winners of the Group of the Year category in the 2014 Harpers Awards whilst co-founders Charlie Young and Brett Woonton were On-trade Personalities of the Year in the 2013 Harpers Awards.
