Published:  14 November, 2013

Glenfiddich, in partnership and support of the UK team's Walking with the Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge, will be releasing only 250 bottles of a special limited edition, 29 year-old scotch malt whisky that will retail for rrp £1,000 per bottle.

200 of the 250 bottles produced will be for sale in the UK, with 100% of the profits going to the sponsorship of the Walking with the Wounded.

'Spirit of Nation' is a single cask scotch malt whisky that was put into Sherry cask on 14th February 1984 and aged for 29 years, before being finished off in an American Oak Bourbon cask for the last three months.

Team Glenfiddich is a group of four wounded servicemen and women who will depart the UK on 17th November, racing 335 km in 16 days, against an American and a Commonwealth team to the South Pole to raise funds for Walking with the Wounded. Expedition Patron, Prince Harry will also take part in the challenge as a member of the team.

Two bottles of 'Spirit of a Nation' were presented to Team Glenfiddich in London's Trafalgar Square this morning, 14th November. One is to be opened on arrival to the South Pole, whilst the other will be signed by the team and returned to the UK for auction, with proceeds donated to the charity.

Glenfiddich Senior Brand Manager, Sarah Harding said, "Spirit of a Nation is an exceptional and extremely rare Glenfiddich, and releasing the special edition now is an ideal way to honour the courage and strength of Team Glenfiddich, and we're proud to be donating the proceeds to Walking with the Wounded".

As part of the release of the limited edition whisky, Glenfiddich will be launching an integrated advertising campaign to generate awareness for the Walking with the Wounded charity.
