CHANGES AT WSET

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust has announced a series of changes with two new divisions, sales & marketing and research & development (R&D), being established. David Wrigley MW moves from awards to director of sales & marketing, while Janet Bangs has been appointed director of awards. Kieran O'Kelly moves from the corporate division to become director of R&D. Simone Page and Pat Sturge come under Wrigley in sales & marketing, while Godfrey Spence and Karen Douglas transfer to R&D. Joe Beddoe becomes centre registration & quality assurance manager, replacing Jeremy Rea, who leaves the WSET. Responsibility for the trust's information update passes to sales & marketing and its editor for ten years, June Grant, moves to the awards division. She will be responsible for scholarships and centre visits. * The WSET will be conducting wine tastings and wine-matching seminars at the 2002 Restaurant Show. The trust will also run a Grape to Glass Wine Theatre', giving practical knowledge to everyone visiting the show. The event takes place at Olympia from 16-19 September. Sweet Surprise', on 6 August (50), matching savoury dishes and puddings with sweet wines; the Wine Appreciation Summer School', a three-day event from 21-23 August, priced at 280. Both events are aimed at the general public.
