Right Bank is a new brand from Bordeaux, a blend of 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc, from the right bank of the Dordogne. It is available this month in Safeway at 4.99. The concept is the idea of Andrew Stewart MW, who works for Adel UK Ltd of Chiswick. The Roseworthy-trained winemaker David Morrison was contracted by Adel to supervise the project, from selection of the fruit right through to fermentation and bottling. The wine was vinified and bottled at Producta, the largest co-operative union in Bordeaux. Morrison, who has lived in France for many years, said: 'The quality of fruit was exceptionally high in all our pre-selected vineyards. By using standard cold maceration techniques, we obtained vibrant fruit flavours and soft tannins for this first vintage.'
