It is business as usual at Ehrmanns, according to chairman James Kerr Muir, following the sudden departure of managing director, Dermot McGee. Kerr Muir told Harpers that no further changes were being considered and that Peter Bauthieu, former chairman and still a shareholder, is back in day-to-day charge. McGee, who spearheaded the building of the Grolsch Dutch beer brand in the UK, headed up the management buy-in in May 2000, backed by Edinburgh-based venture capitalists Dunedin Capital Partners. According to industry insiders, McGee tried to instigate change too quickly and upset some suppliers and customers.
