Tasmania wins Commnwealth grant

Published:  23 July, 2008

Australia: A Commonweatlth grant worth nearly one million AUS Dollars (433,000) could help Tasmania's sparkling and Pinot Noir producers.

"It's a series of three major research, development and advisory programmes that will last for three years, and we hope that the results will be most definitely nationally of interest, if not internationally," said Wine Industry Tasmania executive officer Allison Williams.

She indicated that producers hoped the grant would improve both wine making techniques and viticulture, to assist with grape growing for both sparkling and Pinot Noir varieties in cool climates.
