Berkmann appoints director of fine wine & private clients

Published:  30 January, 2019

Berkmann Wine Cellars has appointed Guillem Kerambrun to a newly created director of fine wine & private clients role.

In his new position, Kerambrun takes on responsibility for the sourcing and management of fine wines within the Berkmann portfolio while building Berkmann’s collectors and private customers offering.

Reporting to purchasing director, Alex Hunt MW, Kerambrun will also be instrumental in developing and refining the fine wine selection for the on-trade, independent retail, brokers and private client sector.

Kerambrun, who takes on his new role with immediate effect, was previously group head sommelier & wine buyer for the Caprice Restaurants Group and Birley Clubs.

Prior to moving to London, he spent 13 years with chef Alain Ducasse as group beverage director after having trained in France at the Dinard Food & Beverage School.

Changing the direction of his career had not been a “simple decision”, said Kerambrun.

“Berkmann and I share the same values and it's an honour to have the opportunity to create the culture and ethos of this new department, that sits within the Berkmann family’s vision.

“One of my goals is to keep the company one step ahead of the competition by delivering the best service to our clients. As always, I will analyse each wine by its notoriety, pleasure and price.”

Having sold wine since 1964, Berkmann’s portfolio comprises more than1,400 wines, including exclusive agencies spanning boutique producers such as Radio-Coteau, Yarra Yering and Marchesi Antinori.
