Major French exporter Les Grands Chais de France (GCF) has appointed a new UK based wine director to oversee the group’s activities outside of France.
Nick Butler takes on the new role of UK and Ireland wine director, which was created to support the commercial team as part of the group’s expansion programme.
The new position is part of the company’s strategic plan to extend business outside of France, GCF said today.
Although GCF’s French portfolio will remain its focus and core of the business, a new strategic direction and acquisition programme is currently underway to ramp up expansion outside of France.
Australian Butler has a degree in Oenology from Roseworthy College, Adelaide, and is a winemaker himself, with 30 years of experience internationally – most recently as Kingsland Drinks’ wine controller.
“At a strategic level this new appointment demonstrates a very exciting next chapter in spearheading our new global goals, and we are delighted to welcome Nick on board,” said Mark Kears, MD for UK & Ireland.
“He brings a wealth of experience and an extensive network of industry contacts and his role will be highly complementary to our new international direction.”
Butler will report directly toMark Kears.
Vanessa Mills, UK winemaker specialist France, remains the main wine contact for GCF’s French portfolio.
