ProWein 2018 to focus on ‘craft’

Published:  27 September, 2017

ProWein, the must-attend premier wine and spirits business show in Europe, has revealed it’s turning the spotlight on craft spirits, beer and cider in 2018.

With its own exclusive stage and hall, the craft segment would be the focus of the “same but different” show, said Marius Berlemann, global head of wine & spirits, Messe Düsseldorf, the organisers of ProWein.

The focus on craft reflected the result of a visitor’s survey, which had shown 39% of ProWein trade visitors were interested in craft spirits and 45% in craft beer, he added.

“On the urban bar scene, in trendy eateries and also in the wine merchant’s trade, craft spirits and co are playing an increasing large role and are tapping into ever new customer bases - this is an excellent reason for incorporating this theme into the show,” said Berlemann.

The aim was to create an additional, market-relevant line-up for ProWein customers, he added.

The fizzz Lounge, care of trade publisher Meininger Verlag will move from its previous location in Hall 12 into the “same but different” Hall 7.0.

The international spirits range at ProWein, which will be held in Dusseldorf from 18 to 20 March next year, will remain in Hall 12.
