Nobilo, New Zealand's second largest wine producer, has released the 2008 vintage of its Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc in the UK. It is available now from Sainsbury's, Somerfield, Tesco, Threshers and Morrisons for a recommended retail price of £8.20.

The Marlborough region enjoyed a particularly long and dry summer in 2008. After selective picking, all fruit was crushed and de-stemmed using Tipper Tanks - state of the art winemaking technology that allows gentle, more efficient processing of the grapes. After crushing, the juice was given between two and five hours of skin contact to release its flavours.

Fruit for this 2008 vintage Nobilo Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc was sourced from the Wairau and Awatere valleys, within the Marlborough region.

The result is a wine that shows a balanced combination of regional characteristics - aromas of ripe, tropical and citrus fruit follow through to the palate where there are classic flavours of lemon, passion fruit and melon. This refreshing wine is crisp and zesty with a lingering finish.

Commentating on the new vintage, Clare Griffiths - VP Brands Marketing, Constellation, said: "Nobilo Regional Collection wines are about representing the diverse character and styles of the different wine producing areas of New Zealand. The Regional Collection Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from select vineyards in the Marlborough region, and the 2008 vintage is bursting with varietal aromas and flavours."
