UK distribution partnership for top Jura estate Frédéric Lambert unveiled

The wines of Frédéric Lambert are now available in the UK after distributor Cachet Wine announced a partnership with the producer.

The 10ha estate was founded in 1994 by the eponymous Lambert with a single hectare of vines. It has since expanded across 7 different plots and terroirs within the well-regarded Côtes du Jura and L’Étoile AOCs.

The wines he produces showcase the diversity of this region, with the Jura’s five emblematic grape varieties – Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau, and Pinot Noir – all represented in the estate’s portfolio.

Lambert’s winemaking philosophy focuses on ‘deep respect’ for the clay-limestone soils that are found in these hill sites around the village of Toulouse-le-Chateau – approximately an hour away from Beaune by car.

Among other sustainable techniques, the domaine practices hand-harvesting to ensure that the ‘character of the land’ shows up in the bottle.

While some are fully oxidative, others make use of the ouillé process to create elegant, floral and dry whites from both Chardonnay and Savaginin.

Commenting on his wines, Lambert said: “The Jura is a land of paradox – rugged yet refined. Our goal is to capture that tension. Whether it is the ethereal lightness of our Trousseau or the powerful complexity of our Vin Jaune, we want the drinker to feel the cool breeze of the Jura mountains and the richness of our ancient soils.”

These will now be available through Cachet Wine – an independent, family-owned wine agency company, also established in 1994, which is known for championing lesser-known grape varieties and regions.

David Archibald, sales director at the business, added that “the wines of Frédéric Lambert are a wonderful addition to the expanding range at Cachet Wine and show our commitment to great winemaking that highlights the terroir and the people who make such wines so very special”.

Cachet operates from its own purpose-built bonded warehouse, specialising in supplying independent wholesalers, retailers and breweries on duty paid; under bond; and ex-cellar bases.
