Robinsons adds trio to South African portfolio

Published:  19 September, 2016

Robinsons Brewery are about to begin an exclusive partnership with three South African boutique wine producers.

Wines from Nitida, Haut Espoir and Noble Hill will be available to Robinsons' estate from early October alongside tasting sessions at the SITT (Specialist Importers Trade Tasting) in Manchester and London on September 19 and 21.

Noel Reid, wine buyer for Robinsons Wine, said: "We aim to partner family businesses that mirror our own drive for exceptional quality and we feel we have found the perfect partners."

The first producer, Nitida, is a small family-owned winery in Durbanville and ran by the Veller family since 1990.

Although small in size, Nitida is a well-known boutique cellar in South Africa, and their range includes Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Coronata Integration - a Semillon Sauvignon blend.

Berhard Veller, owner of Nitida said: "It is with great excitement that Nitida Cellars is partnering with Robinsons Brewery to bring our delicious wines to a discerning market.

"We have been looking for a partner for a number of years that will focus not just on the highly traded London market. With Robinsons Brewery, we have found that partner and we look forward to a long a prosperous relationship."

The second partnership is with Haut Espoir, a boutique biodynamic wine estate in Franschhoek which has been ran by the Armstrong family since 1999.

This new partnership marks the first route to the UK market for the winery.

"I am extremely excited for our first ever export into the UK with Robinsons Brewery as our exclusive agents," said Rob Armstrong, owner of Haut Espoir.

"We are really looking forward to the response that the wines receive and to be able to point our many UK visitors to a place back home where they can now find our wines."

The final producer partnership is Noble Hill- a family-owned producer, operating on the historic slopes of the Simonsberg.

Kristopher A. Tillery, proprietor of the Noble Hill Wine Estate, said: "Since establishing Noble Hill we have been single-mindedly focused on expressing our terroir through our wines and we are delighted to find an importer in Robinsons that recognises and appreciates the value of site-specific South African wines. We look forward to working together to bring the Noble Hill wines to the UK".
