Limited edition Isle of Arran Bothy Quarter Cask launched today

Published:  19 October, 2015

The Isle of Arran Distillery launches its latest expression today, Monday 19 October.

The Bothy Quarter Cask will be for sale from 11am. Only 12,000 bottles will be made available worldwide.

The whisky is a multi-vintage Arran single malt. It was first matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels before spending at least 18 months in smaller American oak quarter casks modeled on those used in the whisky trade in the 18th and 19th centuries.

It is bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.7% ABV without chill filtration.

James MacTaggart, the Isle of Arran's master distiller, said: "The centuries-old history of whisky making on the island is at the heart of everything we do and with this new bottling we've captured those traditions.

"We expect this edition to be highly sought-after. The picturesque artwork on the bottle, coupled with a superior dram laden with heritage, makes this a beautiful collector's item as well as a fantastic whisky to drink and savour."

The Bothy Quarter Cask is named after the one-room buildings in which many islanders used to live.

It will be available at specialist whisky shops and www.arranwhisky.com at a price of £54.99.

Online customers will be limited to two bottles per order.

The Isle of Arran Distillery was founded in 1995. Three of its whiskies have won gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
