Bibendum PLB strengthens buying team with Pyatt hire

Published:  29 July, 2015

Bibendum PLB has recruited Alastair Pyatt, head buyer at Jascots, to join its buying team. Pyatt will be responsible for sourcing French wine for Bibendum, PLB and Walker & Woodhouse.

Pyatt had worked at Jascots since 2011. He was only appointed head buyer for the London based wine merchant in February 2015.

Pyatt also has experience in the hospitality and retail sectors, as well as in winemaking with Kilikanoon Wines in Clare Valley, Australia. He has recently passed the first year MW examination.

Pyatt became famous in the wine trade after a chance encounter with Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne prior to the March 2015 Budget enabled him to lobby personally for duty on wine to be frozen. Pyatt met Osborne on the London Underground.

Andrew Shaw, buying director at Bibendum PLB Group, said: "We are thrilled to have Alastair on the team. He's a great fit for Bibendum PLB and no doubt we will benefit enormously from his experience, talent and passion.

"France is of course, a hugely important and successful region for us, so it was very important we found someone who could take this challenge in their stride."

Bibendum PLB was created by the merger of Bibendum Wines with the PLB Group in October 2014.
