Hawksmoor Knightsbridge set to open in July

Published:  30 May, 2014

The Hawksmoor, one of London's favourite steak joints, will be opening a new location in Knightsbridge on Yeoman's Row on July 3, 2014.

This will be the fifth site for the Hawksmoor group, run by Will Beckett and Huw Gott, and will have 130 covers in the restaurant and 25 seats in the bar. The interior will be a throw back to the glamorous 1930s.The restaurant is on the site of where Frankie's Restaurant previously sat.

Beckett said: "This is oddly exciting and nerve-wracking for us. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were opening a bar in a small Bengal-fried chicken shop off Brick Lane, and to be doing something in Knightsbridge is amazing, if not a little intimidating! As it happens we've always thought 'Frankie's' would be a great spot for a Hawksmoor, even when we only had one in east London. We've been stalking the space for a long time!"

With each new site, Beckett and Gott, along side the Hawksmoor Group chef Richard Turner, try to something a bit different on the menu. The menu will still offer what the Hawksmoor is known for, fantastic steaks from the Ginger Pig, but this site will also be offering some Asian influenced seafood and shellfish dishes.

Gott said: "This has been a really enjoyable time for me. I've been a little obsessed with Asian culture and food for a long time and have travelled to Japan many times. Adding that experience to our recent Asia trips gave me the confidence to try a few new things at Hawksmoor Knightsbridge."

The wine list was put together by Mark Quick, wine manager for the group, and will offer some popular Germany and California varietals along with more traditional Bordeaux and Italian classics. The group has a big emphasis on wine education, with all new employees dedicating one day of the three day induction course entirely to wine and wine issues.

Beckett and Gott grew up in St. Albans together just a few streets apart.  They opened their first steakhouse back in 2006 in Spitalfields, east London and never looked back.
