London bar group Renaissance Pubs is to open its first boutique hotel.
The gastropub group, which runs six venues in the capital, will open its boutique hotel this spring above the Tommyfield in Kennington.
Rooms will be spread over the two top floors of the Kennington site, where there has been a pub since 1746.
Renaissance founders Tom Peake, Mark Reynolds and Nick Fox of Renaissance Pubs have suggested that opening further rooms is also in the pipeline.
The south London-based company is currently conducting major refurbishments of its outside space at the Stonhouse and the Avalon in Clapham.
Renaissance celebrated its 10th birthday in 2013 - it set up the Abbeville in 2003. Last year it created its own range of drinks, called TEN. Working with local companies SW4 and Sambrook's both the gin and beer are brewed and distilled just a couple of miles away from its pubs.
The group is very environmentally conscious in its menu choices, serving only sustainable fish casught from English day boats. Since 2010 it has worked Jamie Williams at Locks Drove Farm to source all of its chicken and a growing amount of pork and lamb. It also has a small herd of Dexter and Galloway cows in Berkshire.
