A massive Diageo marketing campaign will today see millions of consumers worldwide raise a glass to the birth of iconic brand Guinness 250 years ago.
The world's biggest drinks company has organised a wide range of global activities to celebrate 'Arthur's Day' to mark the anniversary of the famous Irish brewer going into business.
Dublin's St James's Gate, home of Guinness, will form the focus of the celebration and patrons are being encouraged to raise their glass at 17.59 to mark the signing of the breweries lease in 1759.
Tom Jones, Estelle, Kasabian, Natalie Imbruglia and former Destiny's Child band member Kelly Roland are some of the top names to take to the stage in the Irish capital as part of the anniversary activities.
Artists will also perform at celebrations in 28 traditional pub venues across Dublin and as far afield as Lagos, Cameroon and Kuala Lumpur.
The iconic brand is known world-wide and Diageo has spent millions in a high-profile advertising campaign in the run up to the anniversary.
