American wineries that signed up to the Niagara USA Wine Trail are claiming to have seen an increase in summer sales by as much as 50%.
According to Michael J. VonHeckler, chair of the Niagara USA Wine Regional Branding Committee, some 12 wineries have signed up to the scheme. Another twelve are either looking at joining or working to do so.
The Trail was launched five years ago with two wineries, and in the past year a further six have become involved.
Its backers have attributed to sales increases to some 260,000 wine trail brochures the New York State Department of Parks distributed at the Niagara Falls tourist site.
