Glenfiddich distillery is Scottish Icon

Published:  23 July, 2008

Glenfiddich's Dufftown distillery in Speyside has been named as an Icon of Scotland' by Scotland Magazine.

The name is given to those aspects of Scotland that give it an identity and international appeal, according to readers of Scotland magazine.

Elizabeth Lafferty of Glenfiddich said: "we are delighted to have been acknowledged as the best of all Scotland's distillery attractions".

In March the distillery was named Global Visitor Attraction of the Year.

It was also the first distillery to open to the public in the 60s, since which over three million people have toured the premises.

Currently around 80,000 visitors arrive annually and it is open seven days a week over the summer.

"It's fabulous to know that what we're doing is so highly regarded around the world," said Lafferty.
