Wine-trade regatta

Fine weather greeted the participants at the annual wine-trade regatta, which took place in Seaview on 2 September. Thirteen teams battled it out for the Seaview Bucket, which was eventually won by Justin Waples crewed by Will Gemell and Ian Bailey. The Whittington's Salver for runners-up went to Nigel Clift, Paul Gardiner and Marcus Little.

The Siegel Wine Agencies Ladies' Plate was won by Sally Ambler, who, with husband Richard and Liz Strachan crewing, led home a fleet of 10 boats entered for the ladies' race after lunch.

Duncan Jenkins (aged 16), crewed by parents Richard and Julia, was awarded the Pol Roger Prize for the Best Young Helm. The Jroboam of Bollinger for the team making up the most places in a single race was won by Anthony Barne, and the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Moment' Jroboam went to Peter Broadbent.
