Bibendum grows organic range with Zensa

Published:  13 May, 2019

Bibendum has added to its range of organic wines with the listing of the Zensa range from southern Italian producer Orion Wines.

The four-strong range includes three wines from Puglia – a Fiano, a Primitivo and a Nero di Troia – as well as a Nero d’Avola from Sicily. All four wines are suitable for vegans.

Joseph Arthur, Italian buyer at Bibendum, said: “The demand from our customers for organic wine continues to rise as people become increasingly conscious about sustainability, and it’s a trend we anticipate will continue. The Zensa organic wines are the perfect addition to our Italian portfolio, as they hit a keen price point.”

Orion Wines was founded in 2010 by Alessandro Michelon, Luca Pomaro and Elena Ciurletti. It recently acquired the Masseria Borgo dei Trulli estate in Taranto, whose wines are also available through Bibendum.

The new listing coincides with Bibendum’s three-month long ‘Mindful Winemaking’ campaign, which promotes 12 producers committed to organic, biodynamic or sustainable practices in their vineyards.

The market share for organic wines in the UK is predicted to rise from 5% in 2019 to 9% in 2022.
