Vineyard Cellars has appointed Dave Allen to the role of director as the Californian fine wine merchant looks to grow its portfolio.
Taking on his new role with immediate effect, Allen joins Vineyard Cellars - part of The Vineyard Group - following a thirteen year tenure at Enotria & Coe, where he most recently served as director of spirits.
Allen will in his new role be tasked with “developing Vineyard Cellars into one of the UK’s leading importers of Californian wine”.
With his expertise and experience, Allen would be a “fantastic asset” to the team, said Andrew McKenzie, managing director, The Vineyard Group.
“We have lots of new and exciting plans for Vineyard Cellars and are thrilled to have Dave overseeing them,” he said.
New developments for the business were ambitions to diversify the portfolio to include more wines from across the US, added McKenzie.
“Our focus will remain on California but we’ll also be looking at some of the great wines coming out of Oregon, Washington and other up-and-coming states, ensuring we are at the cutting edge of the American scene.”
The Vineyard Cellars currently showcases a collection of rare and collectable wines, many of which it said are unobtainable in California. Representing over forty producers from across the state, the range encompasses all the classic grape varieties as well as some interesting new styles and blends.
Allen said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the team and taking on a new challenge.”
