Gaumarjos launches new range in UK

Published:  18 January, 2007

The new selection from Gaumarjos Ltd captures the range of indigenous Caucasian red and white grape varieties, including Saperavi and Rkatsiteli.

Georgian winemakers brew a wide range of distinctive wines, red and white, dry and sweet, from grape varieties unique to the Caucasus region.

In the last century, the Soviet elite kept the best wines for themselves.

Semi-sweet red wines such as Khvanchkara, Kindzmarauli and Ojaleshi being special favourites.

Gaumarjos has exploited the new political situation to introduce outstanding Georgian wines to Britain, priced in the 5-10 range.

Wines available from Gaumarjos include the dry white Tsolikauri, sweet white Tvishi, dry red Mukuzani, semi dry red Pirosmani and semi-sweet red Khvanchkara.

These are produced by leading Georgian wine-makers, including Telavi Wine Cellar, Teliani Valley and Tbvilino.
